Detail : The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to organise a food festival under the theme of Phuket Tasty, which is to be held in Phuket for the second consecutive year. This year, the festival will offer a variety of food culture in Phuket, as the city is a main attraction that has a cultural combination of Thai, Baba Peranakan, Muslim, Hindu, and Christian. This combination has become its identity reflected through the way of life, architecture, costume, as well as cooking that is so unique and available only in Phuket. Furthermore, in December 2015, UNESCO announced Phuket to be part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Gastronomy. This has made Phuket one of the world’s 18 cities and the first city in Thailand and ASEAN to have this title. As a result, it can help create value-addedness to Phuket’s food and raw materials as well as raise Thai food to be well-known at the global stage. It is a good opportunity for promotions and public relations to stimulate travel among Thai and foreign tourists as well.

 

Activities

1. Demonstrations on cooking Phuket indigenous food in the fusion style by applying local raw materials, which will be performed by famous chefs.

2. Indigenous food stalls from Phuket’s well-known shops, other food from nationwide and celebrities’ favourite restaurants including souvenirs and snacks.

3. Cooking competition by famous chefs and artists.

4. Music performance and other shows on stage.
